1553B bus is a centralized time-division serial bus, characterized by distributed processing, centralized control, and real-time response. Its reliability mechanism includes error prevention function, fault tolerance function, error detection and localization, error isolation, error correction, system monitoring, and system recovery function. Adopting a dual redundant system with two transmission channels ensures good fault tolerance and fault isolation. Overall, the 1553B bus has the following characteristics:
One is good real-time performance. The data transmission rate of 1553B bus is 1Mbps, and each message can contain up to 32 words. The time required to transmit a fixed and unchanged message is short. The data transmission rate is higher than that of general communication networks.
The second is reasonable error control measures and unique command methods. To ensure the integrity of data transmission, 1553B has adopted a reasonable error control measure - feedback retransmission error correction method. When BC sends a command or message to a certain RT, the terminal should send back a status word within the given response time. If there is an error in the transmitted message, the terminal refuses to send back the status word, thus reporting that the last message transmission was invalid. The unique way of command not only enables the system to complete data communication control tasks, but also checks for fault conditions and completes fault tolerance management functions.
Thirdly, the bus efficiency is high. The topology structure of the bus form requires high bus efficiency. Therefore, 1553B has strict restrictions on certain mandatory requirements related to bus efficiency indicators, such as command response time, message interval time, and the length of the maximum and minimum data blocks for each message transmission.
The fourth is to have command/response and "broadcast" communication modes. BC can send a time synchronization message to all RTs in a "broadcast" manner, so that all message transmissions on the bus are controlled by instructions issued by the bus controller. The relevant terminals should respond to the instructions and perform operations. This method is very suitable for distributed processing systems with centralized control. However, the high price of the 1553B bus limits its widespread application in the industrial field.
